About

Gardenhood is an exploration of the gardening life and life as a garden. When does a patch of earth become a garden? How does gardening grow a person? What calls a garden into being? How does one let go of perfection and find beauty? These questions and many more have played with my attention over many years of tending many gardens.

I am Cheryl Conklin. Gardening has been my profession as well as my refuge. Now, I’m on a pilgrimage toward my wildness, creativity, and broader fields of service.

I find it useful and interesting to hold the tension between differing notions until they resolve into each other or create a new harmony. Life and gardens have given me endless opportunities. It’s an honor to connect and share these stories and ruminations with you.
